Hinckley Adopt-A-Tree program
December: Hinckley Parks and Recreation Program is sponsoring an Adopt-A-Tree program in which evergreen trees will be adopted by businesses and groups, and decorated for teh holidays. The trees will be on display in front of the Hinckley Community Buidling by Dec. 5, and stay up through December.

Santa comes to DeKalb
Thursday, Dec. 4: Join the downtown DeKalb festivities welcoming Santa for the holiday season! Activities include a parade, lighting of the Christmas tree and hot chocolate at the historic Egyptian Theatre, on North Second Street.

Discover Sycamore's Walk with Santa
Friday, Dec. 5. Join Santa as he makes his grand entrance in Sycamore! Evening starts with a free showing of "Rudolph" at the Sycamore Theatre at 5 p.m., sponsored by the Sycamore Public Library. Line up for the parade begins at the theatre at 5:30 pm. Children walk with Santa down State Street to the Courthouse lawn at 5:45 p.m. for a spectacular tree lighting at about 6p.m. Start the holiday season off right in downtown Sycamore. Dec. 5: Hinckley Parks and Recreation Program is sponsoring a Community Tree Lighting Friday, Dec. 5, 6:30 p.m. Following the tree lighting, everyone is invited inside the Community Building for refreshments, games and activities. "Don the Elf" will be emcee for the evening.

Discover Sycamore's Chocolate Weekend
Dec. 6-7: Spend a nostalgic weekend holiday shopping through the quaint shop's in downtown Sycamore. Our Chocolate Greeter will welcome you as you enjoy complimentary chocolate and other holiday specialties courtesy of Discover Sycamore. Come experience Sycamore during Chocolate Weekend and find out how sweet a small town can really be.

Light Up Hinckley
December: Hinckley Parks and Recreation Program is sponsoring a residential decorating contest for the holidays. Judging will be done Wednesday, Dec. 17.

“Porgy & Bess” trip
Tuesday, Dec. 9: The Northern Illinois Travel Society will present a trip to America's greatest opera “Porgy & Bess” Tuesday, Dec. 9, as part of its series: 'A Night at the Opera' at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. The trip from DeKalb includes a dinner before the opera and pre and post-opera comments by an opera authority. Tickets are limited, so reserve today. Carriage rides Downtown DeKalb
